Photographic Tips - Which Film is Best for Your Vacation?

Which Film is Best for My Vacation?

When choosing your film, think flexibility. You may be going to a sunny place, but what about beautiful night scenes or indoor pictures you may want to shoot?

First, decide whether you want slides or prints. Medium-speed films, such as KODAK ROYAL GOLD 100, work well for taking very sharp colour prints in bright light or within the range of the camera's flash. Medium-speed films (ISO 64 to 200) will provide good sharpness and flexibility indoors, with a flash, or outdoors in bright sunlight to bright overcast conditions.

Films with an ISO of 400 allow for a great variety of situations-indoors with or without flash and outdoors in the shade or sun. Very high-speed films-KODAK ROYAL GOLD 400, for example-are best in very dim lighting or to stop very fast action (using an adjustable camera). You can minimize the type of films you carry and maximize your picture-taking flexibility by choosing ISO 400-speed film.

Buy film before leaving home. You ensure that you have what you need on hand. Otherwise, you may have to choose from a limited, and often more expensive, selection.

You may also want to take KODAK MAX One-Time-Use Cameras along for the trip. They allow picture-taking when you may not want to risk exposing your more expensive traditional equipment to some elements, such as sand, water, or snow. These single-use cameras are pre-loaded with KODAK GOLD MAX 400 Film and have a fixed shutter and lens setting, making them ideal for picture-taking outdoors on sunny to partly cloudy days. The KODAK MAX Flash One-Time-Use Camera can be used indoors, in shade, or other low-light situations that require flash.

You can even take pictures underwater using the KODAK MAX Waterproof One-Time-Use Camera. The KODAK MAX Panoramic One-Time-Use Camera makes it possible to get panoramic pictures without making a substantial investment in equipment, and is ideal for large groups and sweeping landscapes.
